Ibibene Akwa Ibom lends their support to the governorship bid of Moses Essien. Ibibene Akwa Ibom is a socio-political association in the State made up of youths of the 31 Local Government Areas. Members of the Association led by its president, Mr. Sifon Paul who met with the gubernatorial aspirant recently in Uyo, expressed their admiration for his leadership acumen and commended him for the legacy he bequeathed the State when he was Commissioner for Education, Youths and Sports. Present at the meeting were Idorenyin Etokafia, Anietie Usoro, Daniel Patrick and other members of the executive.
The Governorship Aspirant, Moses Essien who was elated at the visit promised to continue to give his best in the service of the State and to ensure that the interest of the Youths are accommodated in every policy of Government if elected the next governor. He took out time to enumerate the programmes in his economic blueprint for the State, and pledged to make education free, qualitative and compulsory.
Asked about his plans towards changing the economic fortune of the State, the People’s Democratic Party (P.D.P) aspirant said his economic programme which will be patterned after the Asian model, shall revolve around agriculture, massive industrialization, and the establishment of an international wholesale market in the state to service the huge commercial need of the people of the whole gulf of Guinea – an economic privilege presently enjoyed by Aba. He also spoke of plans to harness the rich aquacultural potentials of the state.
He vowed to tackle youth and graduate unemployment in the state, which he said, has been the root cause of youth restiveness and crime in the society.
At the end of the meeting the visitors gathered round and prayed for God’s continued protection upon the life of the aspirant and for His Divine direction as the State approaches the next round of elections.
