PRESS RELEASE - Chapter Chairman of the Peoples's Democratic
Party (PDP) in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, has commended

the state
Chapter Chairmen of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ikot
Ekpene Senatorial District, has commended the lofty vision of
Moses Essien, a gubernatorial aspirant in the State.
This remark was given recently in Uyo some hours after the aspirant
picked the gubernatorial form thus making him a bonafide contender
for the office of governor in the next general elections in the
state.
The Chapter Chairmen speaking through Honorable Sony Udom, State
Vice Chairman of the Party who hails from the Senatorial district,
were responding to the speech made by the aspirant when he formally
met with the Party Leaders to intimate them of his aspiration
to be Governor of the State come next year.
Those who attended the meeting included Obonganwan Regina Efa,
Ikot Ekpene Women Leader; Honourable Isidor Akpan, Chapter Chairman
Obot Akara; Emmanuel Moses, Chapter Chairman Abak; and Honourable
Ntienyong Usen Akpabio representing Ini L.G.A.
Others include Honourable Idung Afa, Oruk Anam; Andy Usoro, Ika;
and the Akwa Ibom State women Leader in the person of Mrs. Victoria.
The Governorship Aspirant who was accompanied by a cross section
of his supporters from the different Senatorial Districts of the
State, said he was happy to be amongst his own people, being himself
from Ikono L.G.A in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
By that singular fact he said he would be frank in his speech
knowing their censure would be mild where he goes wrong. He then
proceeded to outline his vision, and programmes for the State.
He cited the crisis in Ika L.G.A as a slap on the face of the
Senatorial district and vowed that a new government headed by
him would declare the area a disaster zone and accord it requisite
government attention to speed up its rehabilitation.
Of the 300 industries he plans to establish in the State if he
is voted Governor next year, 80, he promised, will be cited in
the senatorial District.
As regards the international connection he has established over
the years, he said he would use it to attract investors into the
State, especially in the area of Agriculture, which holds great
promise for the state given the state’s vast and arable land.
He said Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district has many able Sons and
daughters that should be encouraged to be Governor, but that amongst
the lot he is the most qualified given his past track record in
the State when he was Commissioner, and his entrepreneurship foresight
that has seen him employing over 4,000 Akwa Ibomites in his three
Companies. He promised to do more if elected Governor.
He acknowledged the contributions of the party leaders and promised
to remember them when he gets into office.
In their response, the Chapter Chairmen unanimously agreed the
aspirant deserves to be supported in his mission to transform
and reposition the State on the path of political renewal and
economic progress.
The Chapter Chairman of Ika L.G.A, Honourable Andy Usoro, was
particularly vehement in his praise of the Aspirant over his insight
into, and interest, in the plight of Ika L.G.A.
He pledged to take the aspirant’s message of concern back home
to his forlorn people, and reiterated the need for the aspirant
to begin his rehabilitation programme for Ika immediately. He
said that position would readily convince the people as to what
he will be able to do when he becomes Governor.
